What is a UPS?

Inverter ke baare mein to aap sab hi jante hoge lekin kya apko UPS ke baare mein pta hai?

Aiye jante hai. UPS means uninterruptible power supply yani bina rukawat wali power supply, ye device power cut hone per bhi humare systems ko bina ruke power supply krta hai. Devices jesse ki Routers, homecomputers, servers ko power fluctuation se bachane ke liye UPS ka use hota hai.

Ek UPS 5 zaruri components ki madad se kaam krta hai.

Sabse phele ata hai ek Rectifier jo grid se ane wale alternating current yani back and forth oscillate hone wale current ko direct current yani ek stable flowing current mein convert krta hai, Jisse battery charge hoti hai. Phir vo hi direct current jata hai inverter mein jo Direct current  ko wapis se Alternating current mein convert krta hai. Uske baad vo hi alternating current ek Active Harmonic filter se pass hota hai jo unwanted voltage fluctuations ko stable krta hai,

aur devices tak bhejta hai.

jab main supply cut ho jati hai, sabse phele action mein ata hai relay jo automatically device ke band hone se phele hi mains power se switch hoke battery power pe switch ho jata hai, aur devices ko ek constant aur uninterrupted supply provide krta hai.

Isme ek control unit smart component UPS ki functionalities ko monitor aur manage karta hai, taaki UPS achhe se kaam kare aur systems ko power failure ke baad bhu on rakhe.

Inn sab componenets ki madad se UPS ek stable aur uninterruptible power supply deta hai.

History

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) ka avishkar John J. Hanley ne kiya tha. Hanley ko passenger trains mein interest tha aur unhone decide kiya ki rail systems ko electricity se power kiya jaye, taaki passengers ki safety ensure ki ja sake. Agar train ke electrical systems fail ho jaye, toh train bina kisi control ke aage badh sakti thi.

1934 mein unhone ek patent grant kiya jise “Apparatus for Maintaining an Unfailing and Uninterrupted Supply of Electrical Energy” ke naam se jaana gaya. Is device ka kaam tha ki power failure ke case mein automatically batteries par switch ho jaye. Device ka battery external power source se charge hota tha jab bhi use ho raha hota tha. Is tarah ke devices ko baad mein “uninterruptible power supply” (UPS) ke naam se jaana gaya.

Shuruati UPS systems flywheel rotational designs par depend karte the jo sirf 20 se 90 seconds tak hi backup power provide kar sakte the. Flywheel, jo tez ghoomta tha, kinetic energy ko store karta tha aur power fluctuations ya outages ke waqt is energy ko DC current mein convert karke use karta tha. Flywheel rotary UPSs ko environment-friendly mana jata hai kyunki inka lifespan 20 saal tak hota hai aur aaj bhi yeh less critical backup purposes ke liye use hote hain.

1990s se lekar early 2000s tak, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems mein kaafi badi changes aayi thi, mainly battery technology aur system architectures ke advancements ki wajah se.

Is dauran ka sabse badi innovation thi valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries ka introduction aur unka widespread adoption. Ye batteries traditional flooded ya wet-cell batteries se kaafi alag thi. VRLA batteries, jise hum “sealed” lead-acid batteries bhi keh sakte hain, ek unique design mein aati thi jahan electrolyte gel ya fibrous mat mein immobilized hoti thi.

Isse maintenance bahut kam ho gayi, leakage ka risk bhi kam ho gaya, aur flexible placement options milne lage. Iska result ye hua ki UPS systems ki runtime better ho gayi reliability badh gayi, aur maintenance ki zaroorat bhi kam ho gayi.

Battery innovations ke sath, UPS systems ke field mein ek nayi design ka bhi rise hua – online UPS. Ye design purani standby ya line-interactive designs se bilkul alag hai. Online UPS ka main feature double conversion technology hai. Isme backup power pe switch karne ke bajaye, incoming AC power ko continuously DC mein convert kiya jata hai aur phir se AC mein convert kiya jata hai.

Ye 2 step process ek buffer ka kaam karta hai, jisse output power hamesha consistent aur fluctuations, disturbances, ya electrical noise se free rehti hai. Is tarah se connected equipment ko ek pure aur stabilized power supply milti hai jo sensitive electronics ko safeguard karti hai aur uninterrupted operations ko ensure karti hai. In advanced battery solutions aur online UPS systems ke combination ne 1990s aur early 2000s mein power backup solutions ke naye benchmarks set kiye, longevity aur quality of power delivery ko address kiya.
