What is Gpon network and Epon network?

If you want to know about gpon and epon network then first you have to understand what is passive optical network PON.

Passive optical networks a fiber optic connection best leagues In the Internet and TV services at high speed. It connects The network to the user directly from the provider that is why all the television and Internet service provider uses PON so that you can get high speed despite been far away from the Main source..

In epon network ”E” stands for Ethernet. In 1970s an American company name Xerox Parc. Who develops the Ethernet. GPON technology you get high speed. In downstream you get a speed of 2.488 gigabytes per second from the user. And from upstream two provider it reaches the speed of 1.244 gigabytes per second which means gpon connections are extremely fast, smooth and efficient Internet source.

This technology connects wired connections to the network. It uses coaxial and Fibre optical cables for fast data transmission. With the help of Ethernet You can use printers, laptops and other devices to connect with other devices very easily. These wired connections are reliable and fast which quickly and efficiently transfer data full stop.

History

The birth of modern computer networking started backin1969,when ARPANET advanced research projects agency network became the first interconnected computer network. TCP/IP Protocol suite  was implemented by ARPANET. Pictures of the division of the U.S. Department defense ARPA Advanced Research projects. The motive behind this project was completely connected to the Cold War, the main goal of DoD was to ensure and maintain communication channels during the event of nuclear conflict between the USA and the USSR.

Packet switching technology was introduced by ARPANET for the communication instead of direct connection. In this system the data has been divided into two packets each containing the Address off the destination. These packets work send across the network and directed to their destination machine based on the coordinates provided. This unique approach ensures that information reaches its destination between two machines without any direct connection.

Although ARBANET eliminated the need for direct connection for communication it still relies on wired phones. Initially it started as a four node network linking computers in the University of Utah, UCLA and UCSB, but by 1972 it had expanded to 40 machines.

Bob Metcalfe Was the developer of Ethernet At Xerox Parc in 1973,but it was mainly introduced in 1975.The open Internet Standards took five years to finalize becoming Standardized as IEEE 802.3 in 1983. One advantage of the Ethernet network was its cost effectiveness compared to earlier networking standards, particularly as it adapts to various cable types like twisted pair and fiber optic. Because of ethernet’s open source protocol it made it easier to implement across all the different systems.

Now let’s take a look at the computers network timeline

In 1957 USA formed oh an Advanced Research project agency.

In 1961 Leonard Klein rock Proposed ARPANET idea.

Donald Davies introduce the term packet in 1965

In 1969 ARPANET became functional and the birth of the Internet was established with the first data transmission between UCLA and Sri on 29 October 1969 at 10:30 PM.

In 1971 ray Tomlinson sent the first email making a significant milestone in digital communication while Aloha net laid the groundwork for Wi-Fi.

In 1973 Robert Metcalfe Develop Ethernet at Xerox Parc and the first experimental VoIP call was successfully made.

In 1976 the first true IP router was created by Ginny Strazisar

The TCP/IP protocol was invented by Bob Kahn In the year 1978, which pickup essential for network development. Version 4 of Internet Protocol was officially defined in RFC 791 in 1981, and the domain name system DNS came into existence and introduced by Paul Mockapetric In 1983.

In 1988 technology called network firewall was first published for more improved network security. In 1996 to limit IPv 4, IPv 6 was introduced.
